This page contains general booking information about Pantasia.
- Pantasia offers a duo, trio, or quartet to fit the specific needs of any size event or type of venue. We typically do not offer a solo performer except when Pantasia's musician will be a guest performer along with another ensemble such as a church choir or orchestra. We have special "festival" versions of our duo and trio available for events with smaller budgets that need extra "wow factor."
- When you receive a general quote, the instrumentation you can expect for a DUO is one steel drum and Caribbean percussion such as conga drums, shaker, tambourine, etc. The TRIO adds a 2nd steel drummer. The FESTIVAL TRIO adds a drum set. The QUARTET adds a 4th performer to the festival trio instrumentation. Wedding ceremonies and pre-ceremony music are an exception to this with 2 steel drums available as a duo.
- Very generally speaking, Pantasia's duo is used for events such as cocktail hours and private parties. The quartet (or festival trio) is used for very large onstage events such as festivals. The trio handles events in between. When booking the band, our director will give you more information about the ensemble size most appropriate for your event. No matter which group you contract, you can be guaranteed that Pantasia will never "under represent" itself for your event.
- Pantasia needs electricity to perform for nearly all of our events. We only require ONE standard outlet and we pull the same amount of electricity as a home stereo system. Don't worry, Pantasia has never "blown a fuse." We bring a 25 ft. extension cord to all events. If the distance between the band set and the outlet is farther away, you or the venue will need to provide additional cordage. Pantasia is designed to perform acoustically (no electricity requirement) for wedding ceremonies and pre-wedding music only. For other special circumstances, we can perform using different equipment that does not require electricity, but this option must be discussed at the time of contract. The equipment required to perform without electricity is not our standard set up and will not be packed with us unless we know ahead of time.
- Pantasia cannot perform in any situation where our instruments, cables, or electrical cords will get wet. Please make sure you have a rain plan for your event!
- Pantasia cannot perform in any situation where sunlight will shine into or on the drum. Although steel drums are "tropical" instruments, when the metal heats up, it becomes pliable. This causes damage to the drums as we perform and the drum will need to be sent off for tuning. If your event will be outside, please check your space for shade during the season and time of day in which you are holding your event. If you prefer, Pantasia can provide a tent for a nominal fee for small events with a duo. For larger events, the venue will be responsible for providing cover. If you find another steel drummer who is willing to perform with their drum in direct sunlight, this may suggest a less professional performer. It is not best practice and is not good for the instrument.
- Please be aware that inquiring about a date or requesting a quote does not reserve the date in any way. Due to the high volume of inquiries we receive, you will not be notified if someone else inquires about the same date. Your desired date may become unavailable to you and/or booked by another event without your knowledge. You will only be notified of additional inquires once a contract is requested. Your deposit and signed contract guarantee your event date and time.
- If you are inquiring about a SCHOOL assembly or residency program, please visit the site: www.SCTeachingArtist.com. School-specific information can be found there. The contact form on that site is the appropriate contact form to fill out.
- Pantasia's phone number does not appear on this site. Our director, Kimberly M. Roberts, receives so many inquiries that having a written record of her contacts and correspondences is helpful. Once you make initial contact through the contact form, Kimberly will be happy to provide you with a phone number to reach her for additional planning.
- If you are not inquiring about an event, but rather a service such as music for a commercial, steel band consulting, instrument purchase, etc., please email directly using one of the email links below and provide as much information about the project as possible.
- If you have a block on your email and can only receive mail from a select group of senders or you have a strict spam setting, please add both of Pantasia's emails: info@pantasiasteelband.com AND pantasiasteelband@gmail.com to your approved list. Otherwise, we will be unable to reply to your inquiry.
